Certified Management Consultant (CMC)

IMC-Jordan obtained its international recognition for its CMC certification program through the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI). Certified Management Consultant (CMC) is a designation awarded to consultants who are judged to meet IMC's standards of integrity, experience and competence. Certification gives consultants a competitive edge, demonstrating their commitment to the profession. For clients, the CMC designation indicates that a consultant has met the required standards of practice and qualifications set forth by the Institute. The CMC mark of excellence is used worldwide to identify a certified management consultant whose competency is recognized and certified by a national institute that is a member of ICMCI.

Every step leading to the CMC certification has been designed to verify the candidates' professional competence, mainly:

  • Have at least five years of experience in the full-time practice of management consulting.
  • Pledge in writing to adhere to the Institute's Code of Ethics.
  • Provide six references from clients to assure that consulting relationships and work were satisfactorily completed.
  • Provide five summaries of consulting engagements.
  • Attend “Management Consulting: A workshop for Professionals.”
  • Pass a written exam to verify applicants' understanding and adherence to the Code of Ethics.
  • Pass a qualifying interview by a panel of three consultants, who have earned the CMC mark, to verify applicant's technical and professional competence, application of experience, and understanding of the management consulting process.
  • Be a full member of the Institute of Management Consultants and Trainers. Has a bachelors degree from a recognized university.
  • Be an owner-practitioner or employee of a firm in an independent management consulting practice.

The certification process is based on a point system that would guide the candidates all the way through as follows:

  • Fill an application for certification.
  • The application is reviewed by the certification committee to assess areas of education, work experience and professional activities.
  • If a candidate obtains 18 points or more, candidate is requested to submit client evaluation forms.
  • A total of 40 points must be obtained to qualify for the mandatory written examination.
  • If the candidate passes the written examination, an interview with three certified management consultants is scheduled.
  • After successful completion of the written examination and the interview, the certification committee reviews all information furnished to IMC. Additional information or a second interview may be requested in order to determine that the candidate will add value to the profession.
